Good food in Malaysia, with the tasty mix of traditional Malay cuisine along with the Chinese and Indian influences.
Ironically, it was in Malaysia that I got sick from eating street food for the first and only time in my traveling career. Nothing like a long bus ride from the Cameron Highlands to Penang with a fever to make you appreciate the simple pleasures in life — like not having food poisoning.
On that note, enjoy…
Thaipusam in Penang
Thaipusam is a fascinating Hindu festival celebrated largely by the Tamil community. It involves a lot of fasting and self-flagellation, such as jamming metal hooks and spikes through your flesh. Hey, whatever floats your boat.
It was certainly interesting, especially out in the crowded streets on a hot day with food poisoning.
Nice sunsets, photogenic cockroaches…
