On to Puerto Princesa, Palawan

April 19, 2013 Erim Leave a Comment

Why go to the tropics if you’re not going to roast in some tropical heat? Thus, I found myself next in Puerto Princesa, the capital city of Palawan. According to Wikipedia, Puerto is not technically the capital, even though the provincial seat of government is there. But, it goes on to note that “the city itself is one of 38 independent cities within the Philippines not controlled by the province in which it is geographically located and is therefore an independent area located within Palawan.” Interesting. Sorta.

The city itself is about a quarter million people, fairly busy, hot, and without a whole lot in the way of tourist destinations. I spent a couple days there though. There’s a cool market, which are always fun to check out, and the baywalk is a nice place to stroll around in the evening, enjoy some grilled fish and maybe a mango smoothie.
